NEWS FROM SWANSEA ENVIRNOMENT CENTRE

Happy New Year! Here's hoping 2011 is a great year for us all. If you want to start the year by saving money by becoming greener have a look at the first page of our December/January edition of Green Light at: www.environmentcentre.org.uk

Here are a few of the events taking place in the next few weeks:

Sun 16th 10am Morning walk around Mumbles Head.  Meet at Bracelet Bay car park for a walk around the nature reserve and surrounding area.  Beginners and new members welcome.  Warm weatherproof clothing and boots may be necessary.

Fri 21st Talk by Richard Smith “20 Special Months behind the Lens” at the Environment Centre.

Sun 23rd  10am-1pm Birdwatching at the Wildlife Centre Blackpill

Sat 29th Emergence Calling all artists, performers, photographers, sculptors, writers, directors, producers, stage and production managers, strategists, funders, visionaries and everyone else in the arts!  For all artists interested in sustainability and 'the art of living'

Plus - Second date due to popular demand: Weds 16th February 8.30am-12.30pm “Growing School Gardens” INSET at the Environment Centre with Jane Richmond of the National Botanic Gardens. Giving teachers the know how to make their new or existing school garden a real success. £40 each. Booking essential on 01792 480200.

There are many other events including local produce markets, walks, training courses etc listed in our online events diary at the Envirnoment Centre

Don't forget we have an exhibition in our hall too. Sculpture by the Sea at the Environment Centre.  Local art group Sculpture by the Sea is showcasing the environmental art projects, that they have run during the past year with local primary schools, groups and communities. The exhibition will run until 31st January (please call for room availability).

Do you or someone you know want to come and work with us? The Environment centre is offering the chance to spend the next 6 months helping to run the Centre. It will be a great way to develop clerical and organisational skills. It is part of the Future Jobs Fund scheme, so specific conditions do apply.

Interviews are on 26th January 2011. Please apply through the Jobs Centre.
