AN EXCITING NEW COMMUNITY PROJECT

IS STARTING ACROSS WALES!

FAN stands for Friends and Neighbours. Who is my friend? Who is my neighbour? Come to a FAN meeting and you will meet friends and neighbours there and you will feel more hopeful for the world.

Do not worry if your English is not good, you can come to sit and listen. Perhaps, some good English speakers would also be willing to help someone learning English?

The primary purpose of a FAN Group is to promote friendship and social cohesion amongst people of all backgrounds and beliefs.   They are not allied to any religious or political organisation; do not engage in any controversy or endorse or oppose any cause or beliefs.

The Object of the FAN Group is to promote religious and racial harmony by developing and strengthening good relations between individuals of all beliefs, races and cultures, thus fostering a spirit of kinship, mutual understanding and respect among the peoples of the world.

These meetings are currently for adults - there is no creche at the moment

A FAN Group meeting lasts about an hour and gives all people in the community the opportunity to meet in friendship. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge for attending a meeting. At a meeting, attendees sit in a circle and speak when it is their turn or some people prefer to listen. Attendees learn much about each other, and the world and naturally build up a network of personal support. Many people have mentioned they feel less lonely and more confident since attending FAN Groups.

There are currently FAN Groups set up in Swansea, Ebbw Vale, Cardiff, Newport and Wrexham and expressions of interest for starting up groups in Rhyl, Llandudno & Wrexham.

Would you be interested in attending or setting up a FAN Group in your area? We are looking for friendly individuals to help us make FAN Groups flourish across Wales!
