20-21 November 2010, MILESTONES TO ENLIGHTENMENT UK Study Group Opportunity
This is the first weekend of a new study group offered by international teacher William Meader, arranged as a series of five weekends over two years.
The group will focus on an enquiry into the nature of the spiritual path, service in support of the upliftment of humanity, and a study of the evolutionary stages that lead to full enlightenment. Central to the course will be a deep study of Spiritual Initiation, particularly in relation to individuals, groups, and humanity as a whole.
This is a rare opportunity to undertake in-depth study with William in the UK, who has run similar courses internationally for many years.
This two-year Study Course, takes place over five weekends:
Part 1 19-21 November 2010
Part 2 20-22 May 2011
Part 3 18-20 November 2011
Part 4 18-20 May 2012
Part 5 16-18 November 2012
The Programme: In addition to the residential weekends, the course includes independent reading and work in small study groups. The intensive study weekends start with a special open lecture on Friday evening after supper, and finish by 4 pm on Sunday.
Overview of the Course:
This course is a study of the subject of Spiritual Initiation as conveyed within the Esoteric Philosophy. Over the course of many incarnations, the evolution of human consciousness eventually leads the seeker onto the Path of Initiation. Along that path there are several initiations, each representing a milestone of evolutionary development, that lead to eventual enlightenment. The course, therefore, involves a deep and profound study of each of the seven initiations, and will have application and relevance to the individual seeker, spiritual groups and humanity as a whole.
Taught over a period of two years, this course will begin 20-21 November 2010. Over this two year period, I will be meeting with the UK Group a total of five times (at six month intervals). Each meeting with me (called an intensive) will be two days in length. It will be held at Hawkwood College near Stroud, Gloucestershire and is residential. Prior to enrolling, it is asked that participants demonstrate a willingness to commit to the full two-year process. At each meeting, I will be spending the mornings deepening the groups understanding of the material found in the book entitled, The Rays and the Initiations, written by Alice A. Bailey. This book (particularly Part II of the text) is considered the primary text for the course, and will need to be acquired by each group member. Below are some of the subjects to be covered during the mornings of each intensive:
> The Door of Initiation
> The Higher Way of Evolution
> Entering into the Inner Ashram
> The Dual Life of the Disciple
> The Science of the Antahkarana
> Relation of the Seven Rays and the Initiations
> The Seven Initiations of Planetary Life
In the afternoon of each day of an intensive, I shift topics a bit. During this time, my goal is to present a wide and diverse set of subjects that will enrich the groups understanding of the material covered in the morning, as well as broaden their understanding of the Perennial Philosophy as a whole. Below are the subjects planned for the afternoon sessions:
Ø Development of the Point of Tension
Ø Unlocking the Soul’s Destiny and Purpose
Ø Death: An Interlude between two Activities
Ø The Soul of Humanity and its Emergence
Ø The Technique of Divine Indifference
Ø Spiritual Service and the New Group of World Servers
Ø The Mahachohan (the Lord of Civilisation)
Ø Planetary Influences in Esoteric Astrology
Period between Intensives:
During the period between intensives, group members are asked to read an assigned portion of the text. Then, at regular intervals, participants meet in small groups to discuss what has been read and studied. The frequency and structure of these meetings are open and usually established by the group itself. Though attending these study group meetings is not required, participants are encouraged to do so, in that learning is facilitated when people periodically discuss what they have been reading. It should be noted that there is no written work required for this course. However, in addition to the assigned reading, group members are asked to meditate regularly using meditations I will be providing at each intensive.
